We introduced interscholastic sports in 1986-1987. In that year we organized both a basketball and soccer team, as well as cheerleading, which competed against other area schools of the same caliber. As part of a team, the child learns to work cooperatively to produce a team effort, which is often rewarded with lasting friendship. Competitive athletic events enhance the child's self-esteem and invoke fair play and sportsmanship that are essential personal traits which carry over into the students' home lives.
